I Tried to Write

I tried to write a poem for you

But the words have died on my tongue

I tried to tell you how I feel

But my words make me feel old, not young

I tried to write a poem for you

But my pen has dried up and won't write

I tried to tell you how much I love you

But my words have gone dark, not bright

I tried to write a poem for you

But the paper has turned to dust

I tried to express my thoughts and emotions

But I fear the words have gone to rust
