When I Write

When I write I let my spirit sing
I let my heart say the words my feelings bring

 I allow my words bring new images day and night
I allow my soul to bring me that inner sight

When I write I let my spirit sing my song
Through my poetry, be it short or very long

I allow others to see what I can see
And I show them what it is to be me

When I write I let my imagination go
I am given fertile ground for my gifts to grow

I allow everyone in this secret world of mine
And now they know what it's like to let your light shine!
